Here’s a really cool mid-70s Fender Stratocaster in its factory black finish with a maple neck. Nice weight at 7lb 15oz and it’s got that really solid feel with a tight neck joint and chunky c-profile neck from that period. Serial number is 552711. Original finish everywhere save for the fingerboard that now has a light oiled finish after a perfect refret with larger frets and a new bone nut. It’s set up and plays like a dream and there’s zero fret wear. It’s a terrific player and sounds great. Two of the pickups are the original 74 staggered pole items and the bridge is a replacement. Two original pots date to week 50 of 1973 and there’s a 5 way in there too which is most likely original as they were switching over from the 3 ways around then. Body has the dowels front and back under the paint as it should too. Pickguard and plastic parts are all original (not 100% sure about the back plate but it looks old) as is the trem block, saddles and tuners but it’s had some other tuners on there at some point (see pic), leaving the very faintest of witness marks on the front of the headstock but they are barely noticeable and hard to photograph. Neck profile is typical for the period and is a medium C, 42mm wide at the nut, 22mm front to back at the 3rd fret and 23mm at the 12th. It plays beautifully with the larger frets and un-lacquered fingerboard. Overall, a great custom colour 70’s strat with a few minor issues but still a great guitar. Prices of these have gone crazy recently and this one is fairly priced and I’m open to reasonable offers. Comes with non-original plastic moulded case. Collection in person is fine.
