1964 ORIGINAL PRE-CBS (LAMINATED ROSEWOOD FINGERBOARD) MAPLE NECK FOR FENDER STRATOCASTER. A beautiful and 100% genuine pre-CBS original Fender Stratocaster neck. Dated March 1964, it features a stunning dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with clay dot markers. This neck has NEVER been over-sprayed – and there is no lacquer cracking or crazing… Just honest play wear on the back of the neck and fingerboard. The original’spaghetti’ logo is in great shape – completely intact with no damage or missing/worn away letters. I had this neck re-fretted with vintage correct fretwire – and a new nut fitted in 1988, as the original frets were worn beyond fret dressing – and the nut was cracked in 3 places making it impossible to repair or retain. This work was carried out to the highest order by one of the UK’s finest and long established luthiers – Bill Pupplett. If you don’t know of his work, look him up on Google. He worked on developing Johnny Marr’s Signature Fender Jaguar guitar – and has undertaken repair work and set ups for a host of’A list’ guitar players over the past 40+ years. The machine heads are included. They are double line Klusons – which Fender started using in early 1964. They are in excellent condition – not rusted nor tarnished too much. The original’butterfly’ string retainer and nylon spacer are also included in the sale. All in all, this is a superb straight and original slim, fast C shape neck… It’s so comfortable to play. Try and find another that hasn’t been re-sprayed or had the logo replaced with a replica. I’ve owned it for the past 40 years, and I’m only breaking it for parts because of the aforementioned body’refinish’ considerably reducing the value of the instrument as a whole.
