This is a 1983/84 Fender Squier SQ serial 1970s style 3 bolt Strat. Made in Japan by Fujigen factory. If you are familiar with this particular model, then you need no introduction. These are highly sought after, low production strats that are getting harder to find. These are excellent reproductions of the 70s era starts. In fact they are better as far as quality control aspects. Ive owned a few of these over the years, and I have a true 70s USA Strat, and this one is built much better. Ive had this one for several months, but it appears to have been gigged hard for decades before I found it. Honest to goodness relic-ing. The finish is degraded and turned to brown in several areas on the neck, but only adds to the mojo. The neck feels incredible, which is why I bought it, even though I didnt need another guitar. It plays fine as it is, but will eventually need some fretwork as is par for the course on a well played guitar. There is some fret buzz here and there, but no dead notes. The action is set relatively low for a Strat, and I have gigged with it. All of the hardware is original. The electronics and pick guard are not the originals. Pick guard fits, but not perfectly. Ive never had the stock electronics, and from what I remember in the other SQs that I have owned, they werent that impressive. Middle is a staggered pole 50s repro made by Mojotone. These pickups sound really good together. Included hard shell case. Great guitar that has tons of vintage mojo. Someone really loved this one over the years.
